A third generation Oregonian and small business owner, Dan was born and raised in Newport, Oregon. Along, with his wife and six children, he has now called Salem home for the last three decades.
Dan believes that opportunities, accountability, and hard work should be at the core of our community values. From his first job at 13 years old, to coaching youth sports in Salem for 40 years, he knows that these values are the foundation for success. He’s lived his life by these principles – whether through his business or coaching and mentoring youth – he’s shown that when we make good investments, we get effective results. That’s exactly the approach he plans to bring to the Oregon House of Representatives.
An active member in the community, Dan has always been a leader in whatever organization he has joined. In 2002, he started Sunrise Medical Consultants, Inc. – a company that contracts with 300 physicians to do independent medical exams and file reviews throughout the United States. Since opening, Sunrise has been voted 18th Best Small Company to work for in Oregon and employs dozens of individuals in Oregon.
With a dedication towards serving his community, Dan has been an active member in many organizations and non-profits in the Salem area. On weekends, he can be seen, along with his employees, cleaning River Road as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program or walking as “Team Sunrise” to sponsor The Liberty House, an organization that helps children and families in crisis. He's also active in organizations around Salem, counseling individuals and couples in his own church or mentoring men at the UGM of Salem to help them find opportunities to succeed in life. He’s been a longtime member of the Salem Chamber of Commerce, Keizer Chamber of Commerce, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses. When he’s not focusing on giving back to his community, he’s working hard for his industry as President of the Independent Medical Exams Association, a group he helped create and has built for nearly two decades to help others in his industry navigate the complexities of government regulations as well as educating our elected officials.
Dan has a reputation of being dependable – he knows how to get the job done! The father of six children, Dan also knows the importance of investing in our education and improving our public safety. Our future generations cannot succeed unless our elected officials give them the tools and opportunities for a better future – this starts in the classroom. And just like many in Salem, he’s watched as crime rates continue to increase and our safety and security are threatened more and more each day. He knows we must protect our men and women in uniform who are putting their lives on the line every day to keep us safe and ensure they have the support they need to do their jobs.
As a small business owner, an active member of his community, youth coach, father and husband, Dan will bring a commonsense approach to business, education, and public safety to the Oregon House of Representatives. As your next representative, he’ll work to provide opportunities, hold our elected officials accountable, protect our community, and give people the tools to succeed to make Oregon the best place to live, work and raise a family.
